In this section, I will explain the four steps we use to help you effectively overcome negative anxiety. Through this process you will learn how to control the anxiety which reduces your quality of life.
Step 1: The first step in removing anxiety is to understand clearly why it is occurring, to recognise which particular situations set it off and why these particular situations affect you personally.
Step 2: The second step is to identify the thinking patterns you use to assess an anxiety situation and the behaviours you use to try and manage it.
Step 3: The third step involves investigating when and where you developed your current thinking and behaviour strategies. This phase is very illuminating, because here you discover how your current thinking and behaviour often has roots in past situations, when the approach you developed was the best strategy for that time. Through this process, you will discover how the behaviours you often criticise yourself for using, actually have real meaning and logic. This will help free you from harsh and unhelpful self criticism.
Step 4: In this final fourth phase, we will help you identify alternative strategies for managing anxious situations so you can feel at ease and in control. Also, you will find yourself naturally adopting new ways of managing anxious situations which fit much more comfortably with your current life and the future you wish to build. This process will also open up more opportunities and more enjoyable times than you ever felt possible before.
