In this section, I will explain the four steps we use to help you effectively overcome depression and live a happier more fulfilled life.   Through this process you will learn how to overcome the depression which negatively affects your home life, work, relationships or self-esteem. 
 
Step 1: The first step in overcoming depression is to understand clearly why it is occurring, to recognise which particular situations set it off and why these particular situations affect you personally. 
 
Step 2:  The second step is to identify the thinking patterns you use to manage your feelings of depression and the behaviours you use to try and control it.  When you understand these you can more easily begin to identify alternative strategies which fit much more comfortably with your current life and the future you wish to build. 
 
Step 3:  The third step involves investigating when and how you developed your current thinking and behaviour strategies.  This phase is very illuminating, because here you will understand the roots of your current depression.  Through this process, you will see how the behaviours you often criticise yourself for using, actually have had real value in helping you somewhere in the past, it’s just they don’t work for what you want from life now.  This will help free you from harsh and unhelpful self criticism, opening up your potential to more easily engage in behaviours which produce more satisfying results in your life now.
 
Step 4:  In this final fourth phase, we will help you fine tune your ability to use strategies for managing feelings of depression so you can feel at eas and in control of your life again.  This process will also open up more opportunities and more enjoyable times than you’ve felt possible before.
